TK certainly enjoyed making party cds for his shindigs, so when we got the greenlight to do a live band night we called “Beatnik Beach” at the Roosterfish – the bar I lived above in Venice – Tommy took to his record and cd collection and his trusty Techniques CD > CD burner and spent a fortnight in his lab coming up with this attached collection of songs. Much to his chagrin, I added some choices of my own (‘What’s this shit???’ he’d ask – fearing someone had taken over the laptop he felt we should just leave on shuffle.) I have removed my choices so it’s pure TK as he intended. But I’m not that insulted. He did choose to include his effects-laden take on an answering machine message I left him that he seemed to enjoy so I’m touched our ‘collaboration’ made the cut.
