  1. I grew up in the same county as Tommy did, he was older. I first got wind of him from “All the Way Around”, a song that was played by hometown station WHFS. I never did get to see Tommy play while he was here in Maryland. I was too young to get into the Psychedelly and places like that.

What a talent! Really wish the business and commercial aspects had been better for him. Hell, for lots of artists out there that are so much more interesting than some of the stuff on today’s radio or on streaming.

RIP, Tommy. Gone, but not forgotten

  2. I first saw Tommy play live as part of Paul Westerberg’s band at the Roxy in Atlanta in 1996. About nine years ago, I relocated from Tennessee to Lincoln, Nebraska. I went to see Matthew Sweet play in Omaha with Tommy opening. Well before the show started, Tommy was nice enough to let me take a picture of him with my daughter, who is now a freshman at UNL. He was such a gentle man. After the show, Tommy was mingling about in the crowd. I squeezed his shoulder and told him what great show it was. He looked at me eye to eye and gave a genuine heartfelt thank-you. I hope and pray Tommy is in a place that will repay him the joy he brought to so many people. Thank you so much, Tommy. God bless and keep you.
